Overview

Verso uses music information and artwork to create a wallpaper, save a local gallery and provide optional visual effects. You do not need to create a Verso account.

Music metadata, artwork, gallery history, wallpaper preferences and audio visualisation data are processed on your device. Verso does not upload this information to the developer or an artwork service. The app has no advertising SDK, developer-operated analytics service or cloud synchronisation.

Google Play processes Pro purchases and related billing information. If you choose to contact support, we receive the information you send. These activities are explained below.

Music information and notification access

With your permission, Verso uses Android Notification Access to access active media sessions. It reads information supplied by media players, including:

  • Track title, artist, album, artwork and track duration.
  • Playback state, such as playing or paused.
  • The media player’s app identifier.

This information is used to update your wallpaper, display track information, organise the gallery and support playback controls. Media-session access can operate while Verso’s app screen is closed so the wallpaper can follow your music.

Verso does not inspect the contents of message notifications. It remembers detected media players locally so you can choose which players to use or ignore, and uses player information to open the selected music app.

You can revoke Notification Access in Android Settings. Automatic song and artwork updates then stop.

Artwork, selected images and local history

Verso uses artwork supplied by media players or images you explicitly select through Android’s system image picker. It does not search the internet for album covers or download artwork from web URLs. An image provider you select in Android’s picker may have its own data practices.

The app stores local copies of artwork, gallery thumbnails, track details, favourites, playback counts and timestamps, player preferences, and visual settings. This enables the gallery, recent and most-played sorting, and saved appearance choices.

If you select an image to appear when music is paused, Verso stores a copy on your device. It does not read or copy your existing system wallpaper automatically.

These records are held in private app storage. Artwork and any enabled track information are displayed on the wallpaper, where someone looking at your home or lock screen may see them.

Audio access for music-reactive effects

Edge Bloom, Sound Bars and the optional audio test use Android’s audio-output visualiser. Android requires the RECORD_AUDIO permission for this feature and may label the permission as microphone access.

Verso analyses the device audio output available through this API; it does not open a microphone recorder. Because the API uses the output mix, available sound may include audio from other apps.

The app converts frequency information into levels used to animate effects. This processing takes place in memory on your device. Verso does not create audio recordings, save audio files, transcribe sound or upload audio or audio levels.

Audio capture is used while a feature requiring it is active and is released when it is no longer needed. You can decline or revoke audio permission in Android Settings and continue using wallpaper features that do not require audio.

Verso Pro and Google Play

Google Play handles the optional one-time Pro purchase and purchase restoration.

The app receives purchase information from Google Play, including the purchased product, purchase token, purchase status, signed receipt and related transaction metadata. It stores this evidence privately on your device and uses it to verify, acknowledge and restore Pro access. Verso does not receive your full payment-card details.

Verified access can be used offline for up to seven days between successful checks. This verification period is not a promise that the stored receipt is deleted after seven days.

Google Play and the Google Play Billing library communicate with Google to provide billing. Billing-related technical information includes API success or failure and service connection information used for reliability and error support. Google also processes payment, account and device information under its own policies.

See Google’s Privacy Policy. Google controls retention of its payment and account records.

Diagnostics and support

Verso’s in-app diagnostics are generated when you request them. They contain the app and Android versions, device manufacturer and model, permission states, wallpaper and effect settings, audio status, and Pro verification status.

The diagnostic summary excludes song titles, artist names, artwork, player lists, purchase tokens and unique device identifiers. You can review it before copying it to the clipboard. The app does not automatically send this diagnostic summary to us.

If you email support, we receive your email address, your message, and any attachments or diagnostic text you choose to include. We use this information to answer your request, investigate the reported issue and provide support. We use Gmail, provided by Google, to receive, deliver and store support correspondence. Google processes this information under its privacy policy.

Please send only the information needed for your request. You can ask us to delete support correspondence using the privacy contact above.

Sharing

We do not sell your personal information or share your music information, artwork or audio data for advertising.

Data is handled by Google for the billing services described above and by email providers when you choose to contact support. Music apps, selected image providers and websites opened from Verso operate under their own privacy policies.

We may disclose information we hold where required by applicable law or a valid legal request. This does not give us access to music history, artwork or audio that remain only on your device.

Retention and deletion

Gallery and preferences. Local information remains until you delete it, it is removed under the gallery’s retention or storage limits, or you clear the app’s storage. The gallery retention setting removes non-favourite records based on when they were last played; favourites are retained until you remove them.

In-app controls. Under Settings → Gallery & storage, “Clear history” keeps favourites. “Delete all local data” removes gallery artwork, favourites, saved wallpaper images, history and settings. It retains the separately stored purchase evidence. “Reset appearance” resets visual choices and is not a complete data deletion.

All app storage. To remove all data stored by Verso on your device, including the cached purchase receipt, use Android Settings → Apps → Verso → Storage → Clear storage, or uninstall the app. Android menu names may vary. This does not delete original images from your photo library or Google-held purchase records. Continued music access can create new local history when you use the app again.

Audio. Audio visualisation data is transient and is not saved as an audio file.

Support. We retain support correspondence only for as long as needed to resolve your request and related issues, or to meet applicable legal obligations. We delete it when those purposes no longer apply.

Verso is configured to exclude its app storage from Android cloud backup and device-to-device transfer. There is no Verso cloud account to delete. Google Play purchases can be restored through Google Play after reinstalling.

Security and your choices

Verso uses Android’s private app storage and permission controls to limit access to local information. Local music and audio processing do not require sending that content to our servers.

You can revoke notification and audio permissions, change the media players Verso follows, delete local data, and choose whether to send diagnostics. Revoking permissions may disable the features that need them.

For questions about information you have sent to us, or to request access, correction or deletion where applicable, contact versowallpaper.support@gmail.com. We cannot retrieve music history or artwork held only in your app’s local storage.

Changes and contact

We will update this policy when our data practices change and revise the date above. Where required, we will provide additional notice or request permission before introducing a new use of information.
